My bank is based in Louisiana and, after a recent merger, we now have locations in Arkansas. In Louisiana, we are allowed to contact a family member if we feel that an elderly customer is a victim of elder financial exploitation. Is this also the case in Arkansas?

We contact the Adult Protective Services that is part of the Arkansas Department of Human Services. You can google or contact at 800-482-8049, they have an extensive list of questions, so have everything in front of you. We also file SARs. I don't know about contacting a family member as there are privacy issues and I have not seen anything giving banks a safe harbor like contacting APS does.

Thanks for your response! We do all of that as well. In Louisiana, we have a safe harbor for privacy issues when it comes to elder financial exploitation.
