If we mail a statement to a customer and it is returned undeliverable, how should we deal with this? We use to keep them for a long time but now we shred them because re can recreate them from imaging system. How many times do we have to attempt to deliver the statement before we can put a do not print code? We have attempted to contact customer with no success.

It is usually one and done to avoid the statements from falling into the wrong hands which promotes identity thief.

Pulling people out of the ditc...
if ours are returned, we code as do not mail and send a separate letter to the customer stating we have done such and they need to come to the nearest branch to update their mailing address.

Happy... so, when letters aren't delivered, you tell your system not to mail them but then mail them a letter telling them to update their address? If the mail is getting returned how will your letter ever get to them?

our statements have a "do not forward" on them, while our letters don't. So the statements get returned, but if they really did change their address with the post office the letter would be forwarded to the new address. and if the statement is returned as "address changed, here is new address" we send a letter to the old and new address.
