Not sure which board to post this on...hoping this one will work...

I am hoping you can clarify the need to provide the disclosures and obtain written acknowledgment of such disclosures per the Consumer Protection in Sales of Insurance. Does a new disclosure need to be given before the completion of the initial sale of EACH product, or only the original/initial product sale?

For instance, we have a customer who provided written acknowledgment of receipt of the disclosures for her Homeowner’s policy in 2007. Last month an umbrella policy was obtained. Should we have provided the disclosures and obtained written acknowledgement again?

FYI for future readers...

Based on my additional research and review of the Final Rule, the disclosures do need to be provided and acknowledged again because of the change in type of insurance. In this specific scenario, moving from a HO policy to an Umbrella policy warranted the need for a new disclosure acknowledgement.
