We are making a consumer construction loan secured by land a mobile home that is uninsurable at this time. The borrower will fix up the mobile home and live in it. The loan will be secured with both the land and the mobile home, however, the value of the land is the true collateral value of the loan. The loan officer would like to waive the requirement for insruance on the construction part of the loan. Is there a regualtion that would require us to have insurance on the mobile home?

Insurance, unless you are talking about flood insurance, is a safety and soundness issue.
