Is flood insurance required on a garage if only the garage is in the flood hazard area (and not the house)? I read in the Mandatory Purchase booklet that you can insure detached garages for up to 1/10 of the policy on the main house. What if the main house isn’t in the flood zone but the garage is? Does it need its own policy?

Just want to verify - this is a detached garage, right?

Yes, this is a detached structure - garage only (no living space in it.)

You have to have to have a flood policy on the garage. It's a building located within a SFHA.
