I have a note in my file saying the determination form 81-93 is good only until May 30, 2015. Is this still true?

If it is, then we won't be able to reuse determinations on form 81-93, correct? We'll have to order a new determination for every new loan or change-in-terms that is covered by the rule?

The Standard Flood Hazard Determination Form (SFHDF) is used to comply with Section 303 (a) of Title V of the National Flood Insurance Reform Act of 1994 (NFIRA). The SFHDF is used by Federally regulated lending institutions when making, increasing, extending, renewing or purchasing a loan for the purpose of determining whether flood insurance is required and available. The form may also be used by insurance agents, property owner, realtors and community officials for flood insurance related activities and flood zone documentation.

The Standard Flood Hazard Determination Form number has been changed from FEMA Form 81-93 to FEMA Form 086-0-32 and the form has been revised. This form expires on May 30, 2015. Please review the new form carefully. The Agency will be allowing users a three year transition period ending on the expiration date so user systems can be changed before final adoption of the form is required. The previous form can be used until that time. Users may choose to update their systems at any time to the new format.

The existing Standard Flood Hazard Determination Form (FEMA form 086-0-32) expires on May 30, 2015. Until the new form becomes available, please continue to use the existing form or the prior version of the form (FEMA form 81-93) whichever you are currently using. Once the new form is published, this page will be updated with the new form and with additional information on transitioning to the new form.

So, if I'm understanding this we can continue to use either form 81-93 or 086-0-32 until we hear more from FEMA - and that may not be until after 5-30-15.

Yes, that about sums it up. And then we could be transitioning again, on top of the prior transition period. Crazy.

KB is right. We just have to wait for further guidance. Until then, keep using the form you have.
