Reporting Counterfeit Currency

Reporting Counterfeit Currency - 08/23/17 02:44 PM

The Secret Service has established the U.S. Dollars website for reporting counterfeit currency. Registration is required. Banks are eligible, but there will be a time lag between registration and acceptance so eligibility can be verified.

In essence, the web site allows the submitter to verify that currency is counterfeit before it is submitted to the Secret Service.

Cool tool.

Turnaround time on my registration was around two business days.

I had a chance to give this site a try today, and it is a big improvement over the manual filing process using the .pdf form.

You can also view/check status on past submissions.

There isn't a lot of discussion on counterfeiting and banking, but as you can see from our Nov 1 post, it is a problem. https://www.facebook.com/BankersOnline/
