Sript ATM's?

We have this sentence in our Private ATM Procedures, but I have never run into a 'script' ATM. Are they still out there?

Some dispense currency, while others dispense a paper receipt (scrip) that the customer exchanges for currency or goods.

I've seen some that dispense stamps. I've also heard that in some establishments (gentleman's clubs) they dispense coupons for "services" (lap dances). Actually, I heard this because a customer filed a dispute after his wife saw ATM withdrawals from a terminal at a gentleman's club. He dropped the disputes after his wife found the receipts in his wallet.

Stamps...like postage stamps? I can't get excited about BSA risk there!

So, other than 'custom' machines for certain types of establishments I take it these are pretty uncommon.

Yes, postage stamps. In my experience, these machines are very rare.

I would think you would want to know if one of your customers has a privately owned ATM, what it is dispensing. If you see incoming ACH transactions from the ATM processor for $10,000 a day but the customer does not generate the cash from their business and is not getting it from you are they getting the money from another source or are they giving out coupons/vouchers for lap dances, merchandise, or something else?

Sure. Inquiring minds want to know!

I knew a guy that was trying to market these ATM types around 2008. Instead of issuing cash it would issue a store credit then the customer could get cash back on the store credit balance left after their purchase. Appears they never took off.

So tj what happened when the wife found the tickets in your wallet?
