CIF Position - 07/25/08 12:34 AM

Does your bank have a CIF Specialist position or something similar? If so, would you be willing to share a job description? I haven't seen much out there for a CIF position. Thanks for any help you can provide.

What is a CIF??

If that is a typical position in a bank, do a search on that type of position in Career Connect at the top of the this page and you can find a number of position descriptions in the job listings.

CIF generally refers to a "customer information file" - it's the database table that cross-references all of a customer's relationships in the core processing system. Their loan, deposit, ATM, safe deposit, etc., etc., etc., records would all be accessible through a search of the CIF.

I've been involved mostly with banks $2B and under, and never seen such a position - responsibility for the file is generally the job of the department that establishes the relationship or maintenances an account record.

Well, I was familiar with the term CIF as in "Customer Information File" - I, like you, just never saw it in a job title before...............

I thought it might be a "Chief Information Fudger" - I hear that Fannie and Feddie are looking for new ones -

Thanks guys. I was hoping to find out what this position might be called at other banks. I'm new to a $1b bank and needing a job description for this position but wasn't sure how to title it. The person handles all maintenance to the customer information file, address changes, etc. Also responsible for DDA and CDA maintenance. Reviews sig cards for accuracy and completeness, etc. What have you seen this position called at other banks? Thanks for your help.

Our bank had a group called Deposit Operations - that did some, if not all, of the functions you mentioned. The employees in that group were Operations employees, generally called Operations Clerks, Officers, etc.

Ditto TexTrainer. In addition, we had a CIF Administrator at my last place. This person was supposed to do the scrubs, coordinate between Deposit and Loans to ensure that the data entry was consistent, tested CIF during annual releases, etc.
