ACAMS publishes new FATF 40 Recommendations in Arabic for the first time

The Association of Certified Anti-Money Laundering Specialists (ACAMS) has published the recently revised Financial Action Task Force 40 Recommendations in Arabic. This is the first time the FATF recommendations, including the special eight recommendations on terrorist financing, have been issued publicly in that important language, even though one of the FATF members is the Gulf Cooperation Council. The GCC is a confederation of nine Arab nations in the Gulf region.

On June 20, the FATF announced sweeping changes to its global anti-money laundering standards that bear on public and private sector policies and procedures that should be implemented for effective control of money laundering. This is the first time since 1996 that the FATF revised its recommendations.

Saskia Rietbroek, Executive Director of the Miami-based ACAMS, said the association published the recommendations in Arabic because of its growing membership in the Middle East and the increased interest in international guidelines to prevent money laundering and terrorist financing. The recommendations in Arabic and English may be read at
