Re: Palin Disinvited to Anti-Iran Rally - 09/19/08 02:23 PM

was this the non-partisan rally that both Palin and Hillary accepted but then Hillary didn't want to share a stage with Palin? and then a democrat jewish group asks that Palin not attend either so it wouldn't be partisan?

pretty messed up!!!!

I loved Hillary's response that she didn't want to be involved in a "partisan event" (by, you know, acting in a non-partisan manner and attending a non-partisan event). George Orwell couldn't have come up with a better line.

Does anyone else get the feeling Hillary is distancing herself from the BO express just in case it derails? I mean, seriously, it's like she's vanished from the planet.

Yes, even big mouth Bill has been under the radar. Not much of a show of unity in the democratic party at all, it's almost like the whole party disappeared lately.

I've gone back to be solidly undecided so I'm really just pointing out the facts here.

Yes. She is already planning for 2012.

I think you're correct Bugs. If Obama loses she is positioned pretty. If he wins, and bombs out - same thing.

I think if momentum swings and O pulls ahead with strong numbers, you might see more of her so she can jump on the bandwagon.

Not to me, just to the facts:

"Clinton has said repeatedly that she would do whatever the Obama campaign asked her to do, and so far she has made good on that promise.

"We couldn't be happier," Obama spokesman Bill Burton said, adding that officials would ask Clinton to step up campaign appearances after the Senate adjourns this month.

Clinton traveled last weekend to Ohio, a major battleground state, and has campaigned for Obama in Florida, Nevada and New Mexico. Obama campaign aides said she had another five days of campaigning scheduled before mid-October. She's also raised more than $5 million for Obama and planned another fundraising reception next week in New York, slated to bring in about $500,000."

I don't doubt for a moment that she's done whatever asked. It's not getting much, if any, coverage tho. I'd go so far as to say that maybe BO isn't asking her to do too much either. Using Hillary to further his political ambitions could be a double edged sword for BO...just sayin'

::Looking at watch:: Oh, would you look at that - the Senate's back in session. Darn the luck, I was just hitting my stride, becoming such a forceful advocate for you, Barry. Oh well, I'll see you and Joe back at the...hey, wait, aren't you guys in the Senate, too? Huh. Well, I guess that just makes it all the more important that I'm there instead of out here on the trail! Don't worry, I'll keep your seats warm for ya - hope to see you real soon! ::wink, wink::

I'm sure the media covered her campaign trips in the states that she visited, but campaign trips are so common about now that they don't make headlines. You just can't count on hearing about every campaign trip that everyone makes nationwide.

Re: Palin Disinvited to Anti-Iran Rally - 09/19/08 05:32 PM

You would think though that Obama wouldn't want the cold shoulder appearance to prevail given that she should a strong source for him to draw on. Also, what's up with Biden? You see Palin all the time but not too much on Biden either. Or would that be because Palin has the appearance of being more interesting than a guy who's been in the senate for years?

Yoss, we can all recognize someone who's going through the motions. C'mon, buddy, no need for the pretense here - you're among friends!

Re: Palin Disinvited to Anti-Iran Rally - 09/19/08 06:16 PM

Well, friend, I think we can all recognize that no matter how many appearances she makes and how many million of dollars she raises for him it will never be considered enough by those who don't want to accept it as being true.

Huma won't judge her though. She can take refuge in that.

Re: Palin Disinvited to Anti-Iran Rally - 09/19/08 06:24 PM

Assuming you're refering to me as one of "...those who don't want to accept it as being true" I beg your pardon.

With every other nit pickin' thing being blasted across the media, my comment was that whatever Hillary is doing is apparently not being deemed newsworthy either by the media or by BO's campaign.

In case you don't remember, I was a staunch Hillary supporter and I'm saddened to see her pushed so far to the back of the Democratic bus.

Re: Palin Disinvited to Anti-Iran Rally - 09/19/08 06:37 PM

I didn't say you were. And no matter how staunch a supporter you were, you were no more of a supporter than I was.

But between the rest of the campaign events and the coverage of the economic mess it just isn't realistic to think that you will hear about everything she does. I disagree that she has been treated badly. She had a major speech at the convention and has been given considerable respect in my opinion.

but this is from Yahoo News which explains that she is actively campaigning

you either answered Yoss that you would vote for Fred, or for some other republican candidate if Hillary won the nomination, because it was about "leadership" and you did not like Hillary. If the thread was not trashed, then I may be able to find it.

I'm not sure why you say this. The McCain campaign has frequently had to explain their candidate's laughable comments. Thnking Iraq borders Afghanistan, confusing Sunnis and Shiites more than once, thinking the president can fire the Chairmen of the SEC...

In fact at one point McCain's chief economic adviser actually said: "He has certainly I’m sure said things in town halls" that don’t jibe perfectly with his written plan. But that doesn’t mean it’s official."

Saying McCain's statements aren't "official" for his own campaign is worse than "What I meant was..."

the point is that you continue your hostile statements toward a certain poster on here who is leaning in support of McCain now that Hillary is not the Dem nominee, because that poster looks with disdain on Obama. And yet you yourself stated that you would vote for McCain, even though it might disgust you, if Hillary won the nomination, since we all know with how much disdain you look upon her.

That makes you a hypocrite. So not knock off the horsesh!t with directing hostile comments at that poster, or any other, who opts to vote for McCain in lieu of Obama because Hillary is out of the picture.

hostile? since when is identifying the superficial justifications in one's political choices hostile? (ie, it wasn't the issues! and based on her instant affinity for palin, it is hard to not call out her outright sexism)

Re: Palin Disinvited to Anti-Iran Rally - 09/21/08 06:22 PM

This might have a little something to do with Palin being "Disinvited"

Quote:
The groups sponsoring the rally against Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad speaking at the UN were reportedly told, “it could jeopardize their tax exempt status” if they had Palin and not Clinton or Democratic VP candidate Joe Biden on hand…

"I'm absolutely appalled at the behavior of the Democrats," said Bob Kunst of Defenders.net. "I'm a Democrat and for the first time in my life I'm going to vote Republican. I can't take it anymore."

Ron, Since when is arrogantly ASSuming that you know another poster's intentions equated to identifying superficial justifications. Time and again Straw has pointed out your arrogance for making such elitist assumptions about what another poster intends and means. It is a character flaw of yours, and everyone on here knows it.

Also pure horsecrap Ron because Obama made quite a few position changes too, which caused the ire of the far left just a month or two ago, and yet you did not decry that, so do not give any of us the baloney about "McCain then vs. McCain now." Show some integrity, and lay off the hostile remarks toward that certain poster.

tmos hasn't pointed out how i am wrong about truf not caring about issues though! also, truf has only ignored it when countered. i'm just saying...

"pure horsecrap"?

is trying to switch issues not horsecrap? huge pale tried to say that i would've voted for mccain vs hillary. i told responded with context. but i am fine with obama and always have been. hillary's politics are ok with me but she was divisive and, at the time, mccain was pretty contrarian to the gop. now he is simply one of them.

tmos, show some integrity and stop posting bs links from american thinker etc. i will do whatever i feel like here.
