Democrats to let offshore drilling ban expire - 09/23/08 10:33 PM

Democrats have decided to allow a quarter-century ban on drilling for oil off the Atlantic and Pacific coasts to expire next week, conceding defeat in an month-long battle with the White House and Republicans set off by $4 a gallon gasoline prices this summer.

fwiw, the timing is quite unfortunate as they have bigger fish to fry.

personally, i don't have a problem with this as long as we continue to press for broad energy alternative integration.

I think they're kinda distracted by reports that the entire polar ice cap could melt during the summer within the next five years.

Wasn't there a thread a week or so ago saying that the impact environmentally of off-shore drilling has been reduced significantly? I think the majority of spills are a result of oil tankers running ashore. Right? I have a terrible memory.

bimmer, i don't know what you are trying to get at but please understand that i am a pragmatist about stuff like this. blind focus to the pandering "drill drill drill" populist mentality is not pragmatic.

I'm just wondering if you are for Clean Coal, as Obama is, or if you are against it, as Biden is???
