Pretty much everything makes me cry. I still cry at Apollo 13,
for goodness sake.

Click made me cry so hard my eyes were swollen the next day. Never again will I watch that movie. I hate it.

Re: Favorite sob movies - 01/05/10 07:18 PM

Old Yeller
Steel Magnolias

those are the only two that really made me cry hard - others teared me up a bit.

Re: Favorite sob movies - 01/05/10 07:19 PM

Hope Floats
Brokeback Mountain
Return to Me (even made my husband get teary eyed)
Up
Deep Impact

Hmm, not really into tearjerkers so I've never seen The Notebook or Steel Magnolias... I was given Marley & Me as a gift and have avoided it thus far - anything with animals makes me cry.

Dumbo...when the momma elephant reaches through the bars to swing Dumbo in her trunk. Gets me every time.

Don't go to sad movies if I can avoid it. Don't like to pay to get bummed out.

I went to see 'My Sister's Keeper' with a few friends, not knowing what the movie was about. That movie made me sob, but definitely not in a good way!!

Umm...Always (R. Dreyfuss & Holly Hunter)
Marley & Me
The Lake House
I could just keep going...

I almost forgot the Rocky movies. We watched all 5 New Year's day. I forgot how touching they could be

I'm gonna have to go with the Notebook on this one...as an adult. The movie I cried at when I was a kid though was My Girl, when Macauly Culkin's character dies. Man, I cried like a little girl with a skinned knee.

I couldnt even get through the fricking thing. BORING!

::voice deepens:: I have to say I teared up (not cried, but felt a little something coming into my eye) during the Green Mile when John Coffey gave his speech about not wanting the thing to cover his face cause he was afriad of the dark.

This made me laugh. . .my husband hardly ever cries, but Apollo 13 gets him every time. We were just discussing that last night, in fact. He also cries at the end of Hoosiers every time, too.

For me, Marley and Me, Remember the Titans, The Notebook and Beaches come readily to mind. As I kid, I always cried at those Benji (the dog) movies.

Re: Favorite sob movies - 01/05/10 10:34 PM

There's something wrong about crying during a 3-D movie, you gotta lift up the glasses to wipe away the tears, very unnatural.

I cried at both Up & Avatar. I'm glad to see that I wasn't the only one who cired during Up, my whole family makes fun of me for that.

Imitation of Life

2 kleenex boxer for sure....

"Imitation of Life is a 1959 film directed by Douglas Sirk, adapted from Fannie Hurst's novel Imitation of Life, produced by Ross Hunter and released by Universal Pictures. Starring Lana Turner, it is a remake of the 1934 Imitation of Life, the film also stars John Gavin and features Sandra Dee, Dan O'Herlihy, Susan Kohner, Robert Alda and Juanita Moore as Annie Johnson. Gospel music star Mahalia Jackson appears as a church choir soloist.

This version of Imitation of Life was director Sirk's final major film, and is considered among his best. In the film, Lora Meredith (Turner), a white widowed single mother with dreams of becoming a famous actress, takes in Annie Johnson (Moore), a black widowed single mother who becomes a nanny for Lora's daughter Suzie (Dee). Although Lora eventually becomes a successful stage and screen star, she sacrifices a healthy relationship with her daughter. In addition, Annie's light-complexioned daughter Sarah Jane (Kohner) causes her mother much pain and heartache as she attempts to pass for white and shuns both her heritage and her mother's love."

OMG - reading this snipet and I'm crying again....

Re: Favorite sob movies - 01/06/10 12:03 AM

Predator...gets me every time.

Seriously the only movie I can remember sobbing at was The Passion of the Christ. There are plenty of movies that get me a little choked up, though. There is a scene in Love Actually, even.

Although this belongs in the worst movies thread I do recall seeing Message in a Bottle (HORRIBLE!) with my wife in the theater on Valentines Day. On the way to the car we passed four blubbering females being consoled by their terribly confused boyfriends / husbands. Some peoples' days were ruined...
