Saints (or former) player suspensions - 05/02/12 06:07 PM

Jonathan Vilma, 1 season, Anthony Hargrove (Packers) 8 games
Scott Fujita, Browns, 3 games, Will SMith, 4 games

NFL Player Assoc. has already filed suit challenging the suspensions with no proof...this may be one time I'm for a union!

So were these guys paid for taking opposing players out of the game?

Yesterday's ESPN poll, most Americans think Patriots championships are tainted. When I voted only four states thought otherwise, all were in New England. lol

I don't know, Happy. If a player offers $10k to any player who can knock out the opposing QB, in two consecutive games, I'd say that he was as involved as the coaches.

Perhaps he just got caught up in the whole mess and acted outside his normal behavior, but it doesn't matter. He put up a bounty. I'd have been happy with an 8 game suspension, but I'm not too distraught about him losing a season.

Now, I do think that Goodell should have acted more quickly so that teams, especially outside the Saints, would have known soon enough to potentially draft to replace or add depth at the positions effected.

Pup - i understand, but what I saw in a blurb at lunch today was that the NFLPA contract requires there to be proof, and no physcial proof has been presented, so Goodell has overstepped his guidelines in their suspension.

I have no idea if that is right or not, and i'm actually on the side of they did wrong and deserve whatever punishment is given (not very popular among my whodat friends with these comments).

Tradition.

I like how the writer tries to conjour up some sympathy for Harper referring to him as a 'teen'. Yes, techinally he is 19, but when I hear teen, I think 13-15. The guy is 19 and playing in the pros... he isn't a kid anymore, he's a man.

That said, you know the game, you know the history, and Harper seems to get it and dealt with it like an adult.

It it the writers job to make the story. shocked

That being said it should no longer be part of the game.
