Hushpuppies, cheese grits and slaw is on the bar...all we need are the FISH!
Enjoy.

Re: The Going Fishing Tomorrow Bar - 10/10/14 02:02 PM
Shouldn't you have saved this bar for next week when you could have supplied the fish too?
I'll take a pile of hushpuppies and try some grits and a 'garden' bloody mary to start the day, please.
Here's to three day weekends!

Re: The Going Fishing Tomorrow Bar - 10/10/14 02:02 PM
if everything is on the bar, it sounds like we need plates and bowls or some type of serving containers, plus the fish

Re: The Going Fishing Tomorrow Bar - 10/10/14 02:03 PM
Probably...but I was thirsty NOW!
Here's a garden mary for the both of us.

here are some boudin balls, beats a hushpuppy every time

Re: The Going Fishing Tomorrow Bar - 10/10/14 02:16 PM
I could really go for some catfish and hush puppies. Think I'll keep it simple with a SoCo and Dr. Pepper.
::Keepin' it klassy in OK::

Re: The Going Fishing Tomorrow Bar - 10/10/14 02:24 PM
Next time I'm heading down to NOLA, will you point me to the best boudin balls, Happy? I've never had one but this is the second or third time you've referred to them as better than hushpuppies so I've got to get me some!
I do know there's blackened and then there's blackened.
As was explained to me, each chef makes their mix differently. I'll take a piece of both the redfish and the flounder to see which is my kind of blackened.
tgiff!

I've got Canadian crappie, walleye, and maybe even a few trout left from this past summer. I'd be willing to share!
And if I get some of the pike out and pickle it, who wants in??

Re: The Going Fishing Tomorrow Bar - 10/10/14 02:55 PM
o.m.g. It's been sssssooooo long since I've had good northern waters fish! I know how to pan fry that trout till the skin is perfectly crispy. Never tried pickled pike but I'll try anything once.

Re: The Going Fishing Tomorrow Bar - 10/10/14 03:05 PM
I'm planning on concentrating on crappie tomorrow. I've never had walleye...guess that's just a Northern fish.
I'll have some, Matt! So long as it's not that weird, scary lutefisk stuff!!!

Re: The Going Fishing Tomorrow Bar - 10/10/14 03:56 PM
Never tried pickled pike but I'll try anything once.
If you like pickled herring, or any other type of fish, you'll like it. It's one of the best ways for a lazy person to consume pike. You don't have to deal with picking out all the dang y-bones, the pickling just dissolves it all. It's perfect!
And Joker, it's one of the best fresh-water fish, in my opinion. The absolute best is when you pull in ones that are big enough that you can eat the cheek meat. Sounds weird, but it's the best bit.

I think remember seeing an episode of Chopped that had Walleye cheeks as a basket ingredient.

Walleye = Yum
Northern Pike = No Yum
I think I'm ready for another Garden Mary. Can I get a skewer of grilled shrimp in this one, please?
Becca, many restaurants around here have walleye cheeks on their menus as an appetizer.
