Sheesh....

White House quietly releases plans for 3,415 regulations ahead of Thanksgiving holiday

While Americans are focused on what delicious foods they’re going to eat for Thanksgiving, the White House is focused on releasing its massive regulatory agenda– marking the fifth time the Obama administration has released its regulatory road map on the eve of a major holiday....

But probably the most fought-over rules to be finalized by the EPA next year will be its redefining of the “Waters of the United States” under the Clean Water Act. The EPA will issue its redefinition next year, according to the agenda.

Federal lawmakers from both parties, along with companies from virtually every sector of the economy, have opposed the rule, saying it greatly expands the EPA’s power to regulate even small bodies of water on private property.

“The ‘waters of the U.S.’ rule may be one of the most significant private property grabs in U.S. history,” said Louisiana Republican Sen. David Vitter, adding “they want to take another step toward outright permitting authority over virtually any wet area in the country, while at the same time providing a new tool for environmental groups to sue private property owners.”

More is not better. The craven manner in which the release is made, so obvious is the attempt to avoid notice, is not better government either. The American people are being played.

Please also note that excessive regulation from bureaucratic sources are not appropriate in these United States.

On the eve of Thanksgiving, how about showing your thanks for the existence of a cooler type forum on a business website by behaving in a more professional manner?

Dear Xian Ngyuen AKA EdSpenser,

What does what you are posting have to do with the potential for 3,415 new regulations to be released ahead of Thanksgiving holiday?

I am posting examples of "sometimes more is not better", which is, after all the thread title.

Other than the initial post, there seems to have been no discussion of which regulations are superfluous, just complaining about the federal government (I believe the non-political word "craven" was used), and large numbers of unspecified regulations not yet released.

So I took the theme of the thread to be represented in its title.

i believe that previous admionistrations have also done mass-releases of this nature...i'd imagine we will soon need a regulation stating we need to keep up with the regulations...one of you compliance goobers should apply to be the Regulations Czar...cabinet level appointment...great government benefits and kickass retirement plan

My point about this was not necessarily about the still-of-the-night institution of the new regs, although that is not all that comforting, but more about when are there enough rules, laws, regulations, statutes, blah, blah, blah?

How about repealing old/useless ones, or ones that aren't applicable or that legitimately restrain economic growth unnecessarily, etc.? Enough already.
