there should be a Mt. Rushmore of food pioneers;
1) the person who invented bacon (but not turkey bacon)
2) the person who first decided to wrap something in bacon (unless it was vegetables because that's just a waste of bacon)
3) the person who first decided to use bacon as an ingredient (such as adding it to deviled eggs, stuffed chicken breasts, etc.)
4) Kevin Bacon

Dorcas Reilly, Campbell's Test Kitchen - age 92
What ever happened to the name Dorcas? That should make a comeback.
I can think of one reason. As that young lady made her way through the American education system, there would be bullies who shortened her name (and no doubt would substitute that name often). In my own experience, my first name wasn't shortened, it just rhymed too easily with a mucous-like substance.

Turkey bacon and sausage isn't that bad. No, it's not full flavor like anything made with pork. However, it's an acceptable substitute for those who can't have pork. Back in the day, pork was the first thing on the restricted list for heart patients like my Dad. He was thrilled when Mom found turkey bacon. I prefer turkey hot dogs to regular. Don't need to be eating all those pig pieces parts including snouts.

Souse meat a/k/a hogs head cheese....is made of cow's face or heel, chicken feet or pig's face, shoulder, feet or knuckle.
A friend of mine grew up with hogs...they were dirt poor...Mom wasted nothing and to this day said friend likes souse meat...my son and I used to laugh at it/make fun of it in the grocery store because it had 'hog noses' in it. When we were farming Indian Corn on their SE GA farm, she offered us some...of course we were like NO...she was highly and unmistakenly insulted that we snubbed it. Oops!

Dorcas (Greek: ΔοÏκάς, Dorkás; Aramaic: טבית×‎ ṬabÄ«tÄ) was a disciple who lived in Joppa, referenced in the Acts of the Apostles (9:36–42) in the New Testament. ... The name Dorcas is a Greek translation of the Aramaic name Tabitha, meaning "gazelle". One species of gazelle is now known as the dorcas gazelle.

Diahann Carroll -- I am old enough to remember when Julia came on the air to so much hoopla. The first time a black woman was on TV not playing a domestic but a middle class woman with a good job. She played a widow with a child who worked as a nurse Her husband died in Vietnam. She dated black men who also had middle class jobs, something not seen very often on TV then. In a way, it set the stage for the Cosby show. But at the time, it was ground breaking.

I did not want to go there but how about here? (not a negative or slam)
https://www.rd.com/article/ruth-bader-ginsburg/During the 1970s, she brought six cases before the Supreme Court, winning all but one. Ironically, “RBG’s signature approach to combatting sexism was bringing lawsuits on behalf of men who were being treated unequally because of their sex,†Franke says. “Her thinking was that male judges would appreciate the injustice in a case where men were the victims, and in winning those cases she was building the scaffolding for addressing the sexism women suffered. As an initial approach to combating sexism, Ginsburg’s strategy was extremely effective.†For example, in Duren v. Missouri, she argued and won on behalf of a male convict who felt his right to a jury chosen from a fair cross-section of his community was violated because it didn’t include women, whose jury duty was voluntary.

Re: She Dead. - 09/29/20 12:03 PM
Couple of problems with that cite. First, the military didn't have a policy nor was engaged in "forced abortions". That is a complete misrepresentation designed to shock and offend. They simply said you could no longer serve in the military. The choice of leaving the military or getting an abortion was entirely with the mother. Second, Ginsburg didn't fight to end abortion in that instance. She fought to change the military policy on discharge. She was not taking a position defending the rights of unborn babies.
I really don't want to turn this political because I respect this forum too much. I respect everyone's opinion and do not want my comment to further any divisiveness here.

This type of argument (not a slam Fly, but agreeing with you) has cause issues with the entire SCOTUS appointment process and it it has been from both sides (add a third or forth if you wish) of the political process. Wouldn't it be great it the powers to be look at the overall merits of a candidate (or their legacy)and make a decision on the overall appropriateness of a candidate or their legacy. From what I have read Ginsberg played well with others even though had strong opinions of her own.
While the politicians will "Bork" a nominee or their legacy let us not do it here.

I can support that. We can have differences of opinion on issues such as this and still be friends (and I have many friends with whom I've had very lively political debates because we don't necessarily agree). I can certainly agree that RBG did much to advance the civil rights of women in our society.
