Life in 2105 - 11/08/05 03:46 PM

I am very interested in what our lives will look like in a hundred years? What changes will we see in technology, entertainment, education, transportation, banking, space travel, etc? Will people be pretty much the same as we are today, or will people evolve (not physically) into something a little different; ie personalities, wishes, desires, humor, etc?

Have to have a moon colony, and everyone eats synthetic food. No use of currency as we are all implanted with a value chip when we are developed in tubes as natural child birth will no longer occur. Illness will be wiped out by genetic research and we will all live to be 120, causing overpopulation issues resulting in the development of artificial island cities and underwater colonies.

Sounds like a Waterworld-type scenario.

We may actually see a quality Nicholas Cage movie on the shelves at Blockbuster.

Who am I kidding, it will be no different than today.

I plan on being dead, so I don't really care.

However, there is a book by a futurist called "The First Immortal" that does a reasonable job on what the future could be like. It is fiction...

I plan on still being alive at a ripe age of 122 years old. Maybe by then I can finally have the hover board that I've wanted since I saw Back to the Future...

Like happy, I also plan on being dead, as do I plan on my kids being dead, and possibly my grandkids... However, in 50-75 years I'm sure that some of us in the "younger" generation will see some of the benefits of the future that will be in 100 years.

I think a nice mix of GATTICA and Snowcrash are likely for our future. Unless we somehow wipe ourselves out, then it's Mad Max for everyone!!
