CTR for cash exchange - 05/04/06 02:47 PM
If a customer brings in $10,100 dollars and then exchanges it for a different $10,100 from the teller for change for their business does this require a CTR?

Yes - list the amount in both the 26 and 27 boxes and check box 33.

I thought so but wasn't sure how it would be put on the CTR. Thanks!

$10,100 cash in and $10,100 cash out. Check the currency exchange box to document type of transaction.
We should also be aggregating cash transactions for our customers when we have knowledge that we have a CTR reportable transaction. For example, let's say Tammy Teller has just worked the night drop and knows that a customer is going to have a CTR for multiple cash in transactions. Later that morning, the customer comes in and exchanges $500 in cash for coin. The $500 should be aggregated into the cash amounts for that customer for CTR purposes.
