CD Donation- Used Computers

CD Donation- Used Computers - 06/05/19 06:22 PM

Hello,

We are exploring the idea of donating used computers to non-profits that already qualify for CRA CD credit. Has someone done that before that could provide some input? We are thinking of trying to get credit for the value of the computer, if possible. But because of the effort needed to wipe the hard drives, we want to ensure that credit is actually possible. We are examined by the FDIC.

I'm an FDIC bank and have gotten credit for this. Write it up, have IT assign a reasonable fair value for the computers (likely very low) and that's it. I wouldn't try to get credit for man-hours of wiping the hard-drives since that is going to happen anyway.

Agree with Norman. We're an OCC bank and got donation credit for giving computers to a lmi school.
