New NPR re CRA modernization update

I just tried to post comments and couldn't do so because the NPR hasn't been posted in the Federal Register yet. The posting is scheduled for January 9 which is when the comment period begins.

Len - out of curiosity, how do you know that the posting is scheduled for 1/9?

I contacted both the FDIC and the OCC public relations folks and told them the federal site wouldn't accept the comments I had submitted and one of them told me the 9th is the expected date of publication. Until publication in the Fed Register the comment period does not commence. Moreover, the notice number will change from the 2018 number (which is in the published NPR) to a different number to be published in the Fed Register.

As of 1:20 pm on January 10, 2019 (today) they have received 37 comments, almost all opposed to the proposed changes and almost all from community activists. They have received several requests to extend the comment period to 120 days because it is so complex. The word is the OCC wants to get this done before April 30, because of concerns regarding the Congressional Review Act (yes, another "CRA").

The comment submitted by GeoDataVision is very comprehensive, and his comments are supported with factual information. I found it to be an educational read.
