I have already asked our Father to give as good an outcome to Parker as my cousins son had. Very simular with tumor behind eye when very young = he is now a Sr. in High School and has 1 glass eye, doing great, plays basketball for his school, etc....
Already asked for God to provide comfort & the peace that passes understnading to the whole family !!

The doctors have removed one of Parker's eyes. He is to go to St. Judes on Sunday to meet with another doctor to see what may be done with his other eye.

Please keep Parker and his mother in your prayers.

You can link to Parker's web site my first post.

UPDATE: The doctors at St Jude agreed with the doctors in Atlanta that Parker's remaining eye should be removed. They feel this is the best chance at removing all of the cancer.

The surgery will be performed this coming Monday in Atlanta.

Please keep them in your prayers.

Re: Prayers for Parker - 03/06/08 07:16 PM

It will be very difficult for Parker, but sometimes people (especially kids) can surprise you.

Did anyone watch Extreme Home Makeover a couple of weeks ago about the young man in Louisville, KY. I remember him and reading about his life. He was born (19 years ago) without eyes and with another defect in which he can't fully extend his arms or legs. He was in the top of his class in high school and is a very talented musician - he plays the trumpet and piano. He is in the marching band at U of L and his father pushes his wheelchair out on the field to make the 'designs' so to speak.

Parker and his family will continue to be in my prayers. Let's hope this will remove all the cancer and Parker can live a long, long life and do lot's of wonderful, brilliant things in that life. It will be hardest on mommy and daddy I think, Parker is very young and will adjust much easier.

Re: Prayers for Parker - 03/07/08 06:23 PM

My prayers are with him also. I agree with Skittles on what kids can do, as his mom says, he has probably never had real vision, so he won't miss it. It is probably easier to deal with loss of vision now than after he is older. Once the surgery is over hopefully they can work on leading a more normal life for him and have the tests and treatments over. I am praying for the surgery to go perfectly.

Prayers for Parker and his family from PA. Any updates Bagweaver?

I also saw the Home Makeover show a few weeks ago. That young man was amazing. What an accomplished young man and what an amazing attitude. He can teach us all many lessons!

This was posted on the web site this past Friday along with a picture that I haven't seen . . .

Parker and I have been trying to rest today after we drove all day yesterday to get home and we didn't get home until late last night! He has felt remarkably good lately despite what all he is going through. He is beginning to have his first tooth come in and it will probably be here any day! Thanks everyone for your encouraging words and your continuing prayers and support. We are very grateful to have such loving people that care so much for us! We are going to try and take Parker's Easter pictures tomorrow before our trip again on Sunday to Atlanta. It seems lately we are definitely more on the road than anywhere else!! We are ready for some calmness in our lives! I will update more on Monday hopefully after Parker's surgery but for now y'all have a good weekend!

God Bless,

Naomi

Re: Prayers for Parker - 03/20/08 05:09 PM

Here's an update from Parker's web site this morning . . .
We recieved a good report yesterday from the doctor. He believes that they got all the cancer and he's on the road to recovery. We have to go back in a month for another checkup and a month later he will get fitted for his prosthesis. Maybe before his birthday he will have his new eyes!! We have to get MRI's every six months so we'll still have to go to Atlanta but not as often. I hope and pray things will settle down and we can enjoy childhood. We are looking forward to Parker's first easter and hope everyone has a nice easter coming up this weekend!

God Bless,

Naomi and Parker
