My mom has cancer

My sweet 86 year old mom has colon cancer and she decided not to fight it. She's been frail the past few years and I'm glad she will enter her new life on the terms that she wants. She just went under hospice and the nurses and the Dr. are amazing. My 91 year dad is taking it pretty well, but is somewhat confused on all the different meds she is taking. I am so proud of my daughter nurse (the quads mom) who went with me to help take care of "Sugar" this past weekend. My sisters are there during the week and I go on weekends. Prayers would be appreciated.

I have a young friend, with a wife and 2 young children, that is going through his 5th round of chemo/radiation - they kill it and it comes back somewhere else in his body. He says this is the last fight he has in him - I can't imagine how hard it would be and what strength it would take your mom to make such a decision let alone someone in their 30's.

Prayers from Texas. I have a friend in his 30's also with 4 children and the doctors say they have done all they can. Cancer reaches out and touches a lot of lives and not in a good way.

Update on Mom: Our hospice workers and the 2 ladies we hired to help my Dad are just wonderful. I spent 3 days with Mom and Dad this weekend and she now does not know who I am, kept her eyes closed all weekend, but she did take her meds in a little bit of pudding. The stress has affected Dad a lot (age 91), he's so feeble and frail, but still mows his front yard. Next month would be their 69th wedding anniversary, but Mom won't last until then. The past 5 weeks seem both to have happened fast, but yet also seems like slo-motion. The end is drawing near. Sorry for the extended post.

So sorry to hear this Quads - it is so hard to think of how those that have to carry on must feel during these times.

Update: My mom passed away a couple of weeks ago. We had a nice funeral and times to see lots of family and friends. Dad is adjusting pretty good. Thanks again for all your prayers.
