Dropped phone calls so when I pick it up I have no idea who it is or what they are calling about. Also, someone internal calling you on speaker and not announcing that they have a room full of people with them while they carry on the conversation!

I have my pets at work everyday. The cat knocking things off my desk and the dog snoring loudly while I am on conference calls are the only peeves I have with them.
who bites their toe nails? I hope that is a joke! how about coworkers that use the word 'like' after every other word? or use profanity in the backroom even though customers can hear it up front? If only being a tattle was a good thing...

So today my dog was napping in my office, as she often does, while I was on a conference call. She proceeded to break wind which woke her up and turned my office into a gas chamber. She then began scratching at the door wanting out of the office, I am assuming because of the smell. I guess that would be my work pet peeve today.

Conference calls where people don't mute their line so you can hear them shuffling papers, typing, cell phone ringing, etc. This leads to people having to repeat everything they just said because the person being asked a question was not paying attention.

Re: Work Pet Peeves - 11/07/18 04:28 PM
our back office area that files SARs frequently prints the SARs and does not gather them from the printer until the end of the day. so, all that are printed are just put on a table that anyone walking by can see, pick up, etc. while not a customer facing area, still not a good practice. Conversations with their management has not changed this process. all of our back office areas have shared printers, so you know when you print something that you may have to sort through to find yours.
Posted By: RVFlyboy
Re: Work Pet Peeves - 11/07/18 04:56 PM
With most modern shared printers, they can be set up to not actually print until the person is standing at the printer and punches in a code. Happy, especially in your situation, that should be implemented at a minimum for those individuals that have the capability of printing SARs.

We had the Asian Beetles in fall of 2017 here in SW KS. Their numbers were in the thousands at my house and yes they bite. Vacuumed the little buggers up daily inside my house, bagged and disposed of them in dumpster and sprayed the outside of the house with malathion (hate to use that stuff) but we were literally being chased out of our house. Didn't know they were dangerous to the dogs, how ever the dogs seemed to steer clear of the beetles as they didn't like the scent they emit. So glad I only saw a few this fall and now it has snowed twice so I think they will be history here. We have also had Elm Beetle and Miller invasions in the past, oh the joys of an old farm house that is not sealed up very tight.

Wikepedia says they spray a foul smelling spray (see below).
The Florida woods cockroach or palmetto bug (Eurycotis floridana)[2] is a large cockroach species which typically grows to a length of 30–40 mm (1.2–1.6 in).[3] When alarmed, adults can eject an extremely foul-smelling directional spray up to 1 m,[4] which inspired several of its other common names: Florida skunk roach, Florida stinkroach, skunk cockroach, skunk roach, stinking cockroach, and stinkroach.[5] Two other naming variations include Florida cockroach and Florida woods roach.[5]

Then i may go another 6-8 months before i drink coffee again.

Re: Work Pet Peeves - 11/29/18 07:26 PM
I guess why i've never gotten into a coffee routine is this:
I don't really drink anything (except water, which i drink a lot of) unless i'm eating something. I don't drink coffee, tea, pop, lemonade......none of that, unless i'm eating something. Coffee sort of coats your tongue and the roof of your mouth and that isn't pleasant for me throughout the day (and if i'm honest, the reason it isn't pleasant for me is it conflicts with my drug of choice--the nicotine in snuff. Getting a dip after drinking coffee isn't pleasing....all you taste is coffee). I do think coffee tastes good though.

My pet peeve is when our crazy printer decides randomly to switch the trays it wants to feed from, and out of the blue says "add paper" when there's plenty of paper in the tray that it just printed from 2 seconds ago.

We got a guy who puts his feet up on the counter, licks his fingers when touching everything, talks unbelievable trash about his wife, and suddenly decides he needs to duck down to count what's in his coin locker when customers walk in. Allegedly was a bank manager before retiring and makes a point to remind people that he only works part time with us to stay busy. But you know, that's none of my business. *sips tea*
Sounds like employee of the month lol or the same person who is late every day and has a new excuse each time...

We got a lady who is sick all the time and already has COPD so you never know when it's a normal cough or a sick cough, coughs all over everything and everyone. Gives every dime she makes to her lazy adult daughter who runs a "professional" craft business on Etsy (read that as sells one trinket a month and calls it a business) so she doesn't want to miss hours by going to the doctor or taking a few days off to get well. She's come in with the flu twice in a year, last time she walked around the bank for a week before the president made her go to the hospital where she was diagnosed with the flu AND pneumonia. When we tell her to go see a doctor for stuff she says "I don't believe in quacks." The same quacks that saved her life in the ER when she was dying from flu/pneumonia. That stupid Keto diet making her body extra weak also doesn't help but you can't tell her anything. She also leaves doodoo everywhere in the bathroom.
Moderator, tell me how far I can go cuz I got some good ones about this person.
You've gone plenty far enough.

the "you know"s, and the "and um"s and I have a co-worker that drags her s out - says sounds like saysssssssss. Gets very annoying once you notice it and then can't unnotice it. The co-worker that thinks she queen of the lunchroom and goes in on fridge cleaning day and throws everyone's stuff out (unless it is a container she wants - then she dumps the food in the trash and cleans out the container and takes it). Most of the time people don't realize because it is just the cheap gladware; but she did it once to someone who had a container with sentimental value. I know she got her container back, would have loved to have heard that conversation!.
or the "seriously" and "literally" 's every other word. I feel your pain!

Re: Work Pet Peeves - 04/11/19 11:32 PM
one co-worker's every other word is "like" which makes me think of the 80s and "like you know..". Another person uses "so", which makes me think of National Treasure movies. So when either of them start talking, my mind drifts off...........

Re: Work Pet Peeves - 04/25/19 02:35 PM
Agree
Our CFO went out in the lobby one evening and asked a customer to control her children. They were the worst I have ever seen. They were sitting on the teller counter, running through the lobby and spilled sugar all over the furniture. These kids were probably around 8. The customer got huffy and left but we haven't seen her since then. Control your dang kids!!!
There is a person near me who clears their throat constantly. It could be a tick but it gets really irritating to me. I'm working on toning it out.

Re: Work Pet Peeves - 04/25/19 04:53 PM
Lunch bags that are the size of carry on luggage. Unless you are one of the first 5 in the office, the fridge is jam packed.
We finally had to take a 'no lunch bags in the fridge' approach. Take out the things that need to stay cold and then take the bag to your desk. Periodically someone forgets and has to have it done for them but all in all, there's now room in the fridge. You know, room for the six different brands of creamer that one person HAS to have at work, each one marked with their initials so no one else uses them. First world problems...geez.

ours is cleaned every friday at 5:00 PM by the cleaning staff...there is a big sign on it that anything left after 5 will be thrown away...yet people still complain that their tupperware/lunch bag/ ketchup/whatever was thrown away...
we actually had a lady that would go through it at 4:59 every friday and take the nice tupperware and insulated lunch bags since "they were going to be thrown away anyway." she no longer works here, stealing from your coworkers is frowned upon
We don't have a set schedule, but when it seems that things are getting dicey we send an email to the whole floor letting them know what day we will be cleaning it out, so that they have been warned in ample time. Small office refrigerators have started popping up in offices over the last few years and we don't have as many problems as we once did. I think about 25% of us have our own fridge now.

My pet peeve in regards to workplace refrigerators (which i don't often utilize) is if i place my sandwich or whatever on a certain shelf.....and later when i go to retrieve it, it has been moved to a different shelf. Um....i placed my item here before you did....work around me...not the other way around.

This with the water jug! I go to fill my cup up and the bottle is always gone. There is one person who always takes the last of hte water but never replaces the jug. It is always left for me to do. There has been a few times when I've gone to get water and its empty so I just go to the break room to get water so I don't have to change it and then later on I hear the person mumbling when he has to change it

Not mine, but a former boss of mine told me that in his previous bank, there was an employee who would go find people who were in the bathroom to tell them they had a phone call. Once she walked into the guys bathroom to tell the bank president that there was a customer on the phone waiting for him...

the infamous ones that send an email telling you they are going to send a meeting invite, then send a meeting invite, then send an email telling you they sent the invite and asking if you received it because you haven't responded...all within about a 4-minute time span.
i normally respond to the last email saying "i have not received any emails from you today." sometime they get the point, most time they don't...
