Reg CC & Government check?

This may be a dumb question, but I'm going to ask it anyway. I am looking at a check from the United States Postal Service. It's not a USPS money order. Does this check fall under government checks and make it a next day availability item? The banker wants to hold the amount over $5,000 using the large deposit reason, and do a case by case hold for $4800. I'm not sure if I can let them do the case by case portion.

#12, First of all there is no such thing as a dumb questions or at least that's what I have been told before. I would say yes, it does classify as a next day availability item. The USPS is considered a government entity & I would think anything issued from them is government issued.

Haha, thanks Double U, and I know that's what they say, but I don't know how true it is!

That is the answer I was leaning towards and actually gave, then I thought I'd better double check!
