FDIC-Expanded Coverage for Large Depositors

I recently listened to a webinar on a service that allows a bank to send a municipal depositor's excess funds to a custodian bank to then be spilt among other FDIC insured institutions, making their funds 100% insured and eliminating the need for a pledge. Does anyone use such a service? Pros/Cons?
