Dormant Service Charge on Deposit Accounts

On our checking and savings accounts we charge a service charge of $3.00 quarterly if the account has gone dormant and has a balance under $50.00. Currently, it is only charging the $3.00 dormant fee and doesn't charge the other service charge for having the account so if the account was normally being charged $6.00 monthly, the account is not only being charged $3.00 quarterly for the same account.....my thoughts are shouldn't we be charging both the $6.00 & the $3.00?? Does anyone else have a fee like this and if so, what do you guys do?

Might depend on your State laws, charging fees on dormant accounts in some States is a little tricky.
