Paid Mortgages

let's say we have a borrower pay off their mortgage loan in December 2015. We report the loan as paid for 3 months. How long do we have to keep notifying the credit bureaus that it's paid, or do they maintain that knowledge and report it on the borrower's credit report. Just wondering how that works... not finding any info out there!
