New to compliance and looking for certifications - 08/27/10 07:59 PM

I'm new to compliance and I'm looking into certifications. I see that I need to wait at least three years before I can attempt CRCM. I see that ICBA offers a compliance institutue for CCBCO, but I'm in Florida and they are in Minnesota.

I did find an on-line option offered by Sheshunoff. Does anybody know anything about them or has done this ceritification? And other suggestions??

I wholeheartedly endorse the ICBA offered CCBCO (although I'll sit for the CRCM when I'm eligible). The ICBA usually has two courses annually, one in Minnesota and another in Kansas City. If you're new to compliance, the five days you spend are worth the time, money and travel. If your bank is serious about compliance and your certification, have them get your butt there.

I agree with Doug, get as many as you can. Also, a CAMS certification is good if you are involved with BSA.
