2012 Geocoding

2012 Geocoding - 01/18/12 06:38 PM

The FFIEC's geocoding system has a drop-down box for 2012 data. Usually it is much later in the year before that year's geocoding data is availalabe. For instance, 2011 data was not available until halfway through 2011.

Should we be using the 2012 data for loans where the "action taken date" is in 2012?

Thanks!

Yes. The new tracts are based upon the 2010 census and are effective 1/1/2012. Tract income data is now included (It wasn't when the 2012 data first was loaded.) The demographic date won't be available until summer (June). The tracts were loaded before the other data because the country was remapped and many tracts have changed (split into 2 or more, merged, renumbered). You need the correct tract number and tract income even though you won't have the corresponding demographic data until later in the year.

There is info and a link to a notice on the search screen.

Is there a way to get a listing of the changed tracts? Thanks!

Look under the What's New column to the right of the page.
