FFIEC Tract codes - 08/16/13 01:59 PM

I'm testing HMDA data and tract codes inputed into the FFIEC website are different than what is listed on the HMDA LAR. How big of an issue is this?

Census tract code is one of the key fields for HMDA. If too many errors are found in an exam, resubmission would be required and possible CMPs could be issued.

That was what I was thinking, but I know there could be a little pushback because it seems to be our database not matching the FFIEC's website. I'm pretty sure regulators use that website so I want to make sure it matches.

Check to make sure the database is checking against the updated codes and not the 2011 list. There were many changes in 2012 based upon the 2010 census data.

AND that the codes you have on the LAR are the new ones as well.

Sometimes, the FFIEC is wrong, however. If you know that the property is in a different tract than what the FFIEC geocoding shows, document it and be ready to explain your results and how you got to them.
