Teller Cash Box

Can anyone advise on the reason why a teller should not maintain any suspect items (i.e. petty cash for misc branch items--coffee, etc) in the tellers cash box.
I'm just looking for the proper wording, actually.

I generally state that it should be held elsewhere to protect the teller from allegations of impropriety.
