FHA and Sponsored Third Party Originators

FHA and Sponsored Third Party Originators - 04/20/11 07:29 PM

There was a recent HUD Mortgagee Letter )2011-17) that addresses use of the FHA and HUD logos, as well as their acronyms, in advertisements.

We are a sponsored third party originator of loan progams, including FHA, and I'm confused by what we can actually say to let people know we offer FHA loans here.

I know we have to take the logo down, but can I still say we offer FHA programs in our ads?

Thanks!

I dont' see why not. Under Reg Z, it meets the "terms actually available" requierment of 226.24(a). However, HUD rules and REg Z were written by two different agencies. We are now a TPO, and we still advertise them, so I'm curious to hear everyone else;s input.

Our bank is a TPO as well so I too am interested if this means we have to C&D using the FHA name in any advertising.
