What are some suggested policies that should be included in an Employee Handbook?
We would like to code our customer file that we use for marketing purposes with an ethnic/race code. This is for marketing purposes only, specifically to track or efforts in reaching out with products to various minority groups. This file information is not generally available to employees outside of marketing. Certainly, not to the lenders. We are concerned about discrimination regulations. Assuming that we do not use this information to discriminate against any particular group and this information is not used in any credit decision, are we OK in doing this? Where can I look for additional help on this matter?
Is it necessary to display the equal housing logo when not specifically referring to rates or terms in print advertising? If we are just saying: "Ask us about our loans...."? Is the logo always required?
I am preparing a new advertisement promoting our bank check card. The idea I have is to use a photo of a man and a woman. The picture shows the couple holding a card and it appears that they are making a telephone purchase. The caption says “Looks like a credit card. Works like a check.” Is there anything wrong with using people in bank ads? Someone suggested to me that it may flag discrimination issues if I don’t include a “mixed group”. Have you heard anything like this before?
