I have a customer who has an LLC set up with one owner. They would like to use their own social security number. Would I set this up any differently? Do I use his name or the name of the LLC first on our computer system? I was concerned with the interest reporting.

How should a signature card read when opening a trust account? Name of trustees first or name of the trust first?

What can you tell me about a trust account, similar to an IOLTA account, that is used by real estate or property management companies to hold renters' security deposits. The funds in this account cannot be commingled with operating funds and my understanding is that they can be interest bearing. My concerns lie in the account titling and what happens to the interest.

A customer has accounts in her name and her husband's. They are (OR) accounts. The husband has been deceased for 5 years, but the accounts had never been updated to remove her husband's name. The interest earned is still being reported on the husbands SSN. We informed the wife that the husband needs to be removed and her placed first with her SSN on the accounts. Is this correct? She states that she can leave him on them with his SSN first.

Yesterday, we reopened a checking account that had been closed for 2 years. Previously, it had been a joint account with her husband; however, she wanted to use her old checks. I had new accounts type a new signature card as an individual account with the wife's name only. Is this correct and considered a new contract since we typed up a new signature card, or should we have opened up a new account with a new account number?
