Access to Safe Deposit Box for Retired Employees

Answered by:

Question:
I have noticed that we have a retired employee that when she accesses her safe deposit box, she goes into the office that used to be hers (which is now someone elses) and opens her safety deposit box right there in front of our employee. Is this wrong?
Answer:

If it's not wrong, it's certainly unconventional. It's apparent that the two individuals are friendly, else your retiree would not be so open about the box's contents. Depending on the location of the safe deposit vault and the office in question, however, this could present an unwarranted security risk. There is also the potential conflict in the fact that a bank employee may be privy to the contents of the customer's safe deposit box, which should be contrary to the bank's policy.
