If a consumer wants to put a stop payment on an ACH item, but it’s already posted, all we have to do is return it, right?

Answer:

Not exactly. If the consumer wants a stop payment, and the entry already posted, definitely return the entry (with a WSUD), but discuss a future stop with the consumer. They may still want to initiate a stop payment in the event the business attempts to reclear the entry.
