ATM Losses

Answered by:

Question:
We have recently taken a number of losses at our ATM's due to the unauthorized use of customers' ATM cards. Do you have any suggestions?
Answer:

If your ATM machines do not have cameras which record the person conduction a transaction, you could install cameras or "dummy" cameras that would give the appearance a transaction was being recorded. You could also increase the lighting in the area around the ATMs particularly those with high evening and night usage. Crooks don't like bright lights. You could also send statement stuffers to your customers reminding them to keep their cards and PIN numbers separate and to shield their actions if another party could view the "keying in" of their PIN number.
