Can A Minor Obtain A Credit Card?

Answered by:

Question:
Can a minor (someone under the age of 18) get a credit card?
Answer:

In general, a minor does not have the legal capacity to enter into a binding contract, so he or she could not obtain a credit card. That said, the laws of a state may include provisions under which a minor is able to contract notwithstanding the incapacities of a minor. You need to consult an attorney in the state where the transactions would take place to obtain an answer any more specific.
