Check w/Only Numeral Amount Listed-Legal?

Answered by:

Question:
If a check was processed with only the numeral amount listed, would the check be considered legal?
Answer:

The term you are looking for is "properly payable" and yes, your bank could pay the item for any amount shown even if it only appears on the check once. You could also choose to return it as "nonconforming amounts."
