Child Support Enforcement Levy

Question: 
I received a child support enforcement levy from the state. The only account the customer has with the bank is a rent security account where they are the tenant. Are we able to comply with the levy?

Answer by Randy Carey:I'm not sure how you would even know that a specific tenant's money is being held in a security deposit account..(?) These are not usually held by the tenant, but by the landlord.

Answer by John Burnett:Assuming that your records do reflect the name of a tenant, the funds in the account are not under the tenant's control. They are under the control of the landlord. I don't believe that the levy can reach those funds.
