Can a customer convert part of an IRA to a Roth?

Answer:

Yes, customers make conversions at their own pace. It does not have to be done in one year. Roth conversions are sometimes called “back door” IRAs. Many customers may not qualify to come in the front door of the Roth but can enter through a conversion.
