Criteria for Accepting Burnt Money

One of our customers has brought in burnt money. What is the criteria for accepting this and in order for the bank to be able to ship it to Federal Reserve for reimbursement how much of the bill must we have? i.e. one full serial number or 75% of the bill being readable?

Answer:

Give them this page and for heaven's sake, don't get the bank involved in the process. The Federal Reserve does not accept mutilated money.
