Disclaiming the IRA—The Rules

Answered by:

If the beneficiary disclaims the IRA, can he or she direct where the money goes?

No, a disclaimer simply takes that person out of the inheritance lineup. The contract will direct where the funds go when someone disclaims. It may be the estate or a contingent beneficiary who is next in line.
