Document Design for Image Quality/Usability and Fraud Prevention

Question:
How do properly designed documents affect my image quality/usability and fraud prevention strategy?
Answer:

Properly designed documents provide superior image quality/usability which directly increases the percentage of items that are read automatically and correctly by an image capture solution. When utilizing an image based fraud detection solution, poor image quality increases the false positive rates. For example, when an image is generated with streaks or is too dark, it is very difficult to detect a forgery, alteration or counterfeit. A poor image is not representative of the "real attributes" of the account's check writer. By optimizing document design and image quality/usability, you can reduce the number of false positives returned from your fraud system driving down the cost for fraud investigators and fraud analysts.
