The consumer has more control through knowledge, seeing what their balance is everyday, seeing the deposits and withdrawals, scheduling bill payments, etc. They have more information, faster and that is control and that is management. As an example, if they want most of their money in an investment fund earning money, they are able to keep a minimal amount in the DDA, just to cover expenses. There are many ways this can be promoted.
