What exception categories should an automated system track?

At a high level, an exception management system should at least track four primary categories of exceptions: customer / credit, loans, deposits, and trusts. A bank may have dozens of specific exception types (such as financial statements, signature cards, etc.), but each exception will usually fit within one of these four categories.
