Filing Police Reports on Losses

Answered by:

Question:
For police reports, if the bank is taking the loss on large dollar amount claims, can the bank file a police report?
Answer:

If your police department will take the report and the district attorney will prosecute, absolutely. When the bank pays a claim it steps in the shoes of the consumer who had money stolen from them. I have heard some departments want concrete information to work from, a floor on the amount of the theft in order to prosecute and want to know if the consumer plans to cooperate in the investigation.
