Fingerprinting for Personal Bankers

Answered by:

Question:
Under the provisions of the SAFE Act, do personal bankers have to be fingerprinted and have a background check?
Answer:

The SAFE Act imposes its requirements on individuals based on their actions, not their titles. If a personal banker performs the actions that define a mortgage loan originator, he or she will have to register, be printed, etc.; otherwise, the SAFE Act makes no such requirement.
