Getting bank counsel involved in policy writing

Why should we ask bank counsel to review our policies and procedures on handling third-party claims? Doesn’t that just add costs to the effort?

Yes, it usually costs money to have a bank’s legal counsel review policy or procedures. However, such a review can be invaluable since counsel should be able to help with the state laws and regulations affecting your handling of third-party claims, and share information on preferred responses when the institution faces options for its responses.
